I dream of having a physical bridal shop one day selling beautiful British made wedding dresses and giving brides to be the dress shopping experience of their dreams. For now that is a pipe dream but I’m always keen to hear what the wedding dress industry is up to. I was interested to learn that the recent statistics by online fashion marketplace Lyst show that the average spend on a wedding dress has dropped in the last year from £1112 to £832.
The high-street have listened and you can now find truly beautiful wedding dresses under £1000 and many for under £500.
I’ve wandered the internet and brought you a selection of what the high-street has to offer. For more highstreet inspiration check out PiP’s pinterest board.
Midi Embellished £795
Topshop’s vintage inspired champagne coloured dress takes 40 hours for all the beautiful beads to be hand embellished.
Applique Maxi £395
If you are after something a little different this full length satin dress comes in a peachy pink tone with floral applique at the shoulders and bodice.
I had to double check the price when I saw this Temperley inspired number from Phase Eight. Featuring an embellished bead and sequin fabric and a cowl draped back it exudes 1920s sophisticated charm.
This 1950s inspired sweetheart dress features a detachable ribbon to accentuate the waist which you could easily swap for a coloured one to tie in with your beau’s suit colours.
Whistles Juliet features an asymmetric silhouette with a detachable train that falls from the shoulder strap. Dramatic and romantic you can see why she’s named Juliet.
Whistles contemporary jumpsuit makes a great alternative to a traditional wedding dress. With cropped wide legs, cape sleeves and a deep V at the back this lace jumpsuit is super modern and would be wonderful for an intimate city wedding.
I’m a huge fan of this dress with its gentle A-line shape, strapless bust and knee length skirt it would be beautiful at a relaxed destination wedding. Perfect too for the honeymoon.
What do you think? Have you tried the high-street for your dress? What shops have you visited? With prices this good I think we’d be silly not to at least try them on.
